Hello and welcome! My journey actually started last fall when I signed up for the Beekeeping course at SCC (Southeast Community College) Continuing Education program. It’s a one year course designed for beginners to have the opportunity to learn how to keep bees.
Why bees? Several reasons. First, my late husband. He was a wonderful influence on my views about the environment. He developed a strong concern about pollinators and their welfare, and that influenced me.
I also want to start a garden, and if you have a garden; well, you need pollinators. So here I am, in March, with my two beehives painted and ready to go, and my two packages of bees on order (they’ll arrive in early April).
