Yesterday (Saturday, April 6, 2024) we had winds gusting past 30 miles per hour. Later that day, we had thunderstorms roll through. I was very happy to see that the hives were still standing on Sunday!
Activity report:
The Buckfast hive (blue hive on the right), I checked the syrup level, and it was almost empty. I refilled, and quickly checked the hive. Bees were active, pollen patty was being eaten and the queen’s marshmallow plug was still in place. Bees were going in/out of the entrance
Italian hive: didn’t look like the syrup had been touched, and hardly any activity around the entrance of the hive. A quick check – they are all active, the marshmallow plug is still in place and the pollen patty is being consumed.
